To help US military veterans and their spouses connect with leading veteran-friendly employers in the region, Professional Diversity Network, one of the leading job boards in the US, partnered with vFairs to bring together a virtual job fair that made seeking employment both engaging and convenient.
vFairs powered the annual Virtual Job Fair for Professional Diversity Network which is one of the only seven culturally distinct job boards in the United States. The virtual event took place on 6th and 7th November 2017, under the name ‘Veterans Connect’ and was designed to aid US military veterans and their spouses in interacting with leading veteran-friendly employers in the region to help them build a sustainable career post their invaluable service to their country.
‘Convenience’ and ‘meaningful engagement’ were the two running themes at the virtual job fair. Visitors were provided with an easy-to-navigate virtual space with multiple employer booths carrying information about the employer and their vacancies. The virtual booths were enabled with one-on-one chats to allow visitors to interact with booth reps via textual/audio/video communication. The event also supported webinars delivered by the employers where attendees could participate in live Q&A discussions with the presenters. A group discussion forum was also available to provide an added networking tool at the event. A job board with robust filters further assisted attendees in quickly reaching vacancies that matched their specifications and likewise, for employers, a searchable database of CVs was provided to help can spot a relevant applicant quickly and get in touch with them to further the recruitment process.
About the event, General Manager vFairs, Muhammad Younas said, “What was unique about Veterans Connect Virtual Job Fair was that it had such a great cause. Our team worked hard to prepare an event that delivered on this great purpose by making it easy for both employers and job-seekers to connect in a virtual space with minimal constraints. We, at vFairs, are continuously pursuing innovation in the platform’s feature-set and we’re glad that people got to see some very novel things at this event.”
The event was sponsored by The US Olympics Committee, US Securities and Exchange Commission, Rolls-Royce, FHL Banks and Xcel Energy among others with over 26 employers exhibiting at different virtual booths. As per PDN’s prime objective, this was an equal opportunity hiring event where career advancement was equally attainable for all regardless of color, background or sexual orientation.
