The Festival Of Literary Diversity (FOLD) 2023 will Take Place from April 30 – May 7; vFairs to Provide Virtual Event Technology

The FOLD celebrates Canadian and international authors annually at their unique flagship event. This year, the festival takes place in person at The Rose, Brampton ON, with virtual and hybrid programming taking place live and on-demand through the vFairs event platform.

Brampton, ON – The Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) has announced its eighth annual festival, which will take place virtually and in-person in Brampton, Ontario. From April 30 to May 3, all programming will be held on the vFairs festival platform. From May 4 – May 7, in-person and live streamed events will take place at Brampton’s Rose Theatre. The festival celebrates the work of a diverse range of authors and storytellers with over 50 featured authors from Canada and around the world. Interested attendees can get more information here.

FOLD is Canada’s first festival prioritizing marginalized and under-represented authors. Virtual offerings include an immersive online platform with exhibitors, panel discussions, contests, workshops, trivia nights and more.

Festival attendees will also have access to a virtual Writer’s Hub which will connect festival guests with editors and representatives from Audible, Penguin Random House Canada, Harlequin, Sheridan, and more. Aspiring writers and publishing professionals can ask questions and network with other attendees.

For the 2023 festival, attendees will once again be able to access the FOLD on the vFairs mobile app, allowing guests to access sessions and participate in chats from their mobile phones.

The festival agenda includes virtual appearances by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, Cody Caetano, Michael Christie, Gia de Cadenet, R. Barri Flowers, Roselle Lim, Robyn Maynard, Susan Mockler, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Dimitri Nasrallah, Danny Ramadan, Sandra SG Wong, and more.

Authors appearing in-person include Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Britta Badour, Jesmeen Kaur Deo, Cherie Dimaline, Ali Hassan, Catherine Hernandez, Jen Sookfong Lee, Suzette Mayr, Sheila Murray, Janika Oza, Casey Plett, Liselle Sambury, Dan K. Woo, and more.

Select in-person sessions will also be livestreamed; all hybrid and virtual events will be made available on-demand until June 7, 2023.

“The FOLD is constantly evolving to better serve authors who have been historically overlooked or marginalized. It’s exciting to work with a company that’s similar – constantly evolving to improve the experience for everyone. I’m proud of our ability to include a comprehensive virtual space where we’ve created a whole new way of engaging with audiences,” commented Jael Richardson, Executive Director at FOLD.

“The FOLD is a great example of how hybrid events can be powered by vFairs with an impressive tech stack and an innovative mobile app,” said Muhammad Younas, CEO of vFairs.

Tickets to the FOLD are now on sale at the official festival website
