You spend weeks perfecting the sponsorship deck. It’s all in there. Gold, Silver, Bronze, logo here, banner there, a line about your audience size.
Then you wait.
And the answer is a generic “We’ll think about it,” if there’s an answer at all.
The problem isn’t your deck. The problem is who has to say yes. You’re pitching to someone who has to walk into their budget meeting and defend the spend, and a logo on a lanyard isn’t enough to survive that conversation.
This month is about building the deck that does.
“You’ll get great exposure” used to be enough to win over sponsors. Not anymore.
Now you have to show a return, and “exposure” means nothing in a budget meeting. Your deck has to hand them a solid argument to take in there instead.
Every part of your deck should focus on one of these:
Everything that can’t be tied to a business outcome has to go. Usually that means:
Drop the Gold/Silver/Bronze setup and name your packages for what the sponsor is actually buying. A Lead Gen package, a Brand Awareness package, and so on.
Now the sponsor picks the one that matches the case they already have to make internally. You’ve done half their work for them.
This is also where the right event technology helps.
For example, vFairs Sponsor & Exhibitor Management lets you build and price those packages, then hand each sponsor their results afterward. Impressions, reach, engagement, and leads per package, in a report they can export and take straight into the renewal conversation.
If you still hear “we’ll think about it,” read it for what it really means: “I can’t defend this yet.” So send the missing proof. A past sponsor’s result, a benchmark, an ROI projection.
Give them the information that’ll help win the room.
Lee Ali has spent nearly two decades helping exhibitors turn booth traffic into real conversations. After all that time, he has a problem with how the industry still measures a “good” show.
His least favorite numbers? Footfall and badge scans.
The problem is that those numbers prove nothing. 50,000 people on the show floor means nothing to the exhibitor who paid to be there.
So Lee measures a show differently. Did you meet the right people, qualify them, and move the conversation to a real next step? That’s it. Everything else is noise dressed up as success.
He even reframes what a qualified lead is. He expands the old BANT checklist (budget, authority, need, timing) with an “ER” at the end: the emotional relationship that helps a deal move.

Here’s everything you need to turn a sponsorship pitch into a signed package.
Give your sponsors a case they can take to the person who signs the check. That’s the deck that gets a yes.
See you next month.
